Harmony Arts

The People Behind the Program

Our Team

Harmony Arts is led by people who love this work. Our team brings professional performance experience, genuine care for young performers, and a deep commitment to Moose Jaw\'s arts community.

J

Artistic Director & Founder

JanLaree Denbigh

JanLaree Denbigh was involved in Community Theatre as a child. When her daughter discovered her love of theatre, the passion came back for Jan. She has been working with students in Moose Jaw since 2013.

Alice in Wonderland Jr. was the sixth musical she produced at the local Mae Wilson Theatre through Harmony Arts. Through her work in Moose Jaw, she has reached hundreds of local youth, providing opportunity and growth for young inspired actors -- through Harmony's programming, customized theatre contracts with Prairie South Schools, and light design and sound tech when managing events at Peacock Collegiate's Centennial Auditorium.

In the past she supported RuBarb Productions as a volunteer assistant to director, where she was mentored by Evie Sawatzky. Jan is excited to encourage and enlighten the young generations with the beauty and joy of live theatre.

D

Actress & Instructor

Dekoda Nelson

Dekoda Nelson is an emerging artist who has always loved being a part of any aspect of theatre. Starting her vocal and dance journey at a young age, she has experience in jazz, tap, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, and multiple other dance styles.

After her family moved to Saskatchewan she discovered her love of musical theatre through RuBarb Productions. When RuBarb Productions closed, Dekoda moved from Assiniboia to Moose Jaw to attend Peacock Collegiate for the opportunity to have a school theatre program. After high school Dekoda attended the Canadian College of Performing Arts.

While in college she had the opportunity to write and direct a ten-minute play, sparking her interest in directing and creating beyond being under the stage lights. Now she wants to give back to the community and help more kids find love and play in storytelling.

H

Team Leader

Hannah

Growing up in a rural community, Hannah spent her childhood dreaming of the stage from afar. Those early dreams carried her into college, where she performed in large-scale productions and discovered a true appreciation for the art of creating theatre.

In time, she stepped away from formal arts studies when the competitive environment of music school no longer felt right. Instead, she followed her curiosity into psychology and public policy -- fields that, paired with her passion for healthy, supportive children's programming, led to many meaningful years of non-profit work in and around Moose Jaw.

All the while, Hannah continued teaching music, a constant thread that kept her connected to creativity and eventually rekindled her love for the magic of the stage. Now, she is thrilled to join Harmony Arts, excited to learn, contribute, and share her ideas while helping create inspiring experiences for young performers.

S

Hip Hop Dance Instructor

Sierra Downey

Sierra Downey is Harmony's Wednesday evening hip hop dance instructor. Sierra began dancing at age three in a small community just outside Moose Jaw, training in jazz, tap, hip hop, ballet, pointe, and contemporary.

Over the years, she performed in many musical-theatre productions and actively participated in the Moose Jaw Music Festival for four years, building experience both on stage and in competition. Her training includes years at Dance Images, followed by her senior year at Born 2 Be, and she has completed her exams through the ADAPT syllabus. Sierra has also attended Dance Jam workshops in Regina, experiencing a high-energy, inspiring environment taught by top instructors from across Canada.

As a teacher, Sierra's goal is to help every student feel seen, confident, and proud of themselves. She believes dance should be a place where kids can express who they are.
